Throwing dust in the faces of those who praise

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ أَنَّ رَجُلاً كَانَ يَمْدَحُ رَجُلاً عِنْدَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ فَجَعَلَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يَحْثُو التُّرَابَ نَحْوَ فِيهِ وَقَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْمَدَّاحِينَ فَاحْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِهِمُ التُّرَابَ
Translation
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When you see those who praise, throw dust in their faces."
