Dutifulness towards a parent who is an idolater

حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي قَالَ أَخْبَرَتْنِي أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَالَتْ
أَتَتْنِي أُمِّي رَاغِبَةً فِي عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَسَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ: أَصِلُهَا؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ۔»
Translation

My mother came to me, wishing for kindness, during the time of the Prophet ﷺ, so I asked the Prophet ﷺ, "Should I maintain ties with her?" He said: "Yes."
Notes
Ibn Uyaynah said: Allah ﷻ revealed concerning her: "Allah does not forbid you regarding those who did not fight you because of religion."
قَالَ ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ: فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِيهَا ﴿لاَ يَنْهَاكُمُ اللَّهُ عَنِ الَّذِينَ لَمْ يُقَاتِلُوكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ﴾.
