✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of the Farewell Pilgrimage: "Enjoy these women." He said, "And enjoyment among us means marriage." He said, "So we presented that to the women, but they refused unless they set a term between us and them. We mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, 'Do it.' So I and a cousin of mine went out, each of us with a cloak. He said, 'We passed by a woman, and she was pleased with my youth and my cousin's cloak, and she said, "A cloak like a cloak." So I married her and spent that night with her. Then in the morning I went and found the Messenger of Allah ﷺ between the door and the corner, saying, "I had permitted mut'ah for you, so whoever has any of these women should separate from her, for Allah has forbidden it until the Day of Resurrection."

machine translationAs for the Farewell Pilgrimage, that is a disagreement over al-Rabīʿ b. Sabrah, and the report from him that it was during the Conquest (of Mecca) is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ) and better known.
