✧ They traveled with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage. He said: 'Enjoy these women.' Enjoyment among us means marriage. So we offered that to the women, but they refused unless a term was set between us and them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Do it.' So I went out with a cousin of mine; he had a cloak and I had a cloak, his cloak being better than mine, while I was younger than him. We came to a woman, and she was impressed by my youth and by his cloak. She said: 'A cloak like a cloak,' and the term between me and her was ten days. I spent that night with her, then went out in the morning, and there was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing between the corner and the door, saying: 'O people, I had given you permission to enjoy women. Lo, Allah has forbidden it until the Day of Resurrection. Whoever has any of them, let him release her, and do not take back anything of what you gave them.'

machine translationAs for the Farewell Pilgrimage, that is a disagreement over al-Rabīʿ b. Sabrah, and the report from him that it was during the Conquest (of Mecca) is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ) and better known.
