حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، أَخْبَرَنَا شَقِيقُ بْنُ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ خَالِدِ بْنِ عُرْفُطَةَ

أَنَّهُ أَتَى سَعْدَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، فَقَالَ: بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكُمْ تُعْرَضُونَ عَلَى سَبِّ عَلِيٍّ بِالْكُوفَةِ، فَهَلْ سَبَبْتَهُ ؟ قَالَ: " مَعَاذَ اللهِ، قَالَ: وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ سَعْدٍ بِيَدِهِ، لَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ فِي عَلِيٍّ شَيْئًا لَوْ وُضِعَ الْمِنْشَارُ عَلَى مَفْرِقِي عَلَى أَنْ أَسُبَّهُ مَا سَبَبْتُهُ أَبَدًا

Translation

✧ He came to Sa'd b. Malik and said, "It has reached me that you are exposed to the reviling of Ali in Kufa. Have you reviled him?" He said, "God forbid. By the One in whose hand is Sa'd's soul, I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say about Ali something such that if a saw were placed on my head to make me revile him, I would never revile him."
