حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ يَقُولُ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ:
وَاللهِ لَأَنْ يَأْخُذَ أَحَدُكُمْ حَبْلًا فَيَحْتَطِبَ، يَحْمِلُهُ عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ فَيَأْكُلُ وَيَتَصَدَّقُ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ رَجُلًا قَدْ أَغْنَاهُ اللهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ يَسْأَلُهُ أَعْطَاهُ أَوْ مَنَعَهُ
Translation

✧ By Allah, for one of you to take a rope and gather firewood, carry it on his back, and eat and give charity is better for him than to come to a man whom Allah has enriched from His bounty and ask him, whether he gives or refuses.
