حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ الْمَقْبُرِيُّ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ عَمَّارَ بْنَ يَاسِرٍ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَخَفَّفَهُمَا، فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ: يَا أَبَا الْيَقْظَانِ، أَرَاكَ قَدْ خَفَّفْتَهُمَا، قَالَ: إِنِّي بَادَرْتُ بِهِمَا الْوَسْوَاسَ، وَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيُصَلِّي الصَّلَاةَ وَلَعَلَّهُ أَنْ لَا يَكُونَ لَهُ مِنْهَا إِلَّا عُشْرُهَا، أَوْ تُسْعُهَا، أَوْ ثُمُنُهَا، أَوْ سُبُعُهَا، أَوْ سُدُسُهَا، حَتَّى أَتَى عَلَى الْعَدَدِ

✧ Ammar b. Yasir prayed two rak'as and made them very brief. Abd al-Rahman b. al-Harith said to him: "O Abu al-Yaqzan, I see you have made them very brief." He said: "I hastened through them to ward off whispering, and I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: 'A man prays a prayer and perhaps he receives from it only a tenth, or a ninth, or an eighth, or a seventh, or a sixth'—until he completed the enumeration."
