✧ Some poor people came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of God, the wealthy people of property and riches have taken the world and the Hereafter.' He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ was startled and said: 'And what is that?' They said: 'They have wealth from which they give charity, and we have no wealth; they have wealth with which they go on military expeditions, and we have no wealth; they have wealth with which they perform Hajj, and we have no wealth.' He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Shall I not inform you of something by which you will catch up with their deeds? You glorify God thirty-three times after every prayer, praise Him thirty-three times, and proclaim His greatness thirty-four times; by this you will catch up with their deeds.' He said: So they did that, and the wealthy heard of it and did the like of their deeds. They said: 'O Messenger of God, they have said the like of what we said.' He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'That is the bounty of God; He gives it to whom He wills.'
