✧ He witnessed a funeral, and Marwan b. al-Hakam prayed over it. Abu Hurayra went until we sat in the graveyard. Then Abu Sa'id came and said to Marwan, "Show me your hand." He gave him his hand, and he said, "Stand." So he stood. Then Marwan said, "Why did you make me stand?" He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he saw a funeral, would stand until it passed by. And he said, 'Death is a terror.'" Marwan said, "Is he truthful, Abu Hurayra?" He said, "Yes." He said, "What prevented you from telling me?" He said, "You were the imam, so you sat, and I sat."
