✧ Shahr b. Hawshab from Abu Hurayrah

وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ يَلْتَقِطُ الْأَذَى مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ، فَمَاتَ، فَفَقَدَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قَالَ: مَا فَعَلَ فُلَانٌ ؟ قَالُوا: مَاتَ، قَالَ: أَفَلَا آذَنْتُمُونِي بِهِ ؟ فَكَأَنَّهُمُ اسْتَخَفُّوا بِشَأْنِهِ، فَقَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ: انْطَلِقُوا فَدُلُّونِي عَلَى قَبْرِهِ، فَذَهَبَ فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْقُبُورَ مَمْلُوءَةٌ ظُلْمَةً عَلَى أَهْلِهَا، وَإِنَّ اللهَ يُنَوِّرُهَا عَلَيْهِمْ بِصَلَاتِي

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Abū Hurayrah

✧ A man used to pick up litter from the mosque, and he died. The Prophet ﷺ missed him and said: What happened to so-and-so? They said: He died. He said: Why did you not inform me of him? It was as if they considered his affair insignificant. So he said to his companions: Go and show me his grave. He went and prayed over him, then said: These graves are filled with darkness for their occupants, and God illuminates them for them by my prayer.
