حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ السَّبَّاقِ

أَنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ حَدَّثَهُ: أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ قَالَ: إِنَّكَ رَجُلٌ شَابٌّ عَاقِلٌ وَلَا نَتَّهِمُكَ، قَدْ كُنْتَ تَكْتُبُ الْوَحْيَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَتَتَبَّعِ الْقُرْآنَ فَاجْمَعْهُ

Translation

✧ Zayd b. Thabit narrated to him that Abu Bakr said: You are a young, intelligent man, and we do not suspect you; you used to write down the revelation for the Messenger of God ﷺ, so pursue the Qur'an and collect it.
