حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَقَفَ عَلَى قَلِيبِ بَدْرٍ فَقَالَ: هَلْ وَجَدْتُمْ مَا وَعَدَكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ حَقًّا ؟ ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنَّهُمْ لَيَسْتَمِعُونَ مَا أَقُولُ. فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لِعَائِشَةَ فَقَالَتْ: وَهِلَ - تَعْنِي: ابْنَ عُمَرَ - إِنَّمَا قَالَ: الْآنَ لَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ الَّذِي كُنْتُ أَقُولُ لَهُمْ هُوَ الْحَقُّ. ثُمَّ قَرَأَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ: إِنَّكَ لا تُسْمِعُ الْمَوْتَى حَتَّى فَرَغَتْ مِنَ الْآيَةِ

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ stood at the well of Badr and said: Have you found what your Lord promised you to be true? Then he said: They are listening to what I say. This was mentioned to Aisha, and she said: He erred—meaning Ibn Umar—he only said: Now they know that what I used to tell them is the truth. Then she recited this verse: Indeed, you cannot make the dead hear, until she finished the verse.
