حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الْكُوفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْعَنْقَزِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُدَيْلِ بْنِ وَرْقَاءَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ عُمَرَ، سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ اعْتِكَافٍ عَلَيْهِ، فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَعْتَكِفَ فَيَصُومَ، فَبَيْنَا هُوَ مُعْتَكِفٌ إِذْ كَبَّرَ النَّاسُ، فَقَالَ: مَا هَذَا يَا عَبْدَ اللهِ ؟ قَالَ: سَبْيُ هَوَازِنَ أَعْتَقَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: وَتِيكَ الْجَارِيَةُ فَأَرْسِلْهَا مَعَهُمْ

✧ Umar asked the Prophet ﷺ about an obligatory retreat upon himself, and he ordered him to perform retreat and fast. While he was in retreat, the people shouted “Allahu akbar,” so he said: “What is this, O Abdullah?” He said: “The captives of Hawazin; the Messenger of God ﷺ freed them.” Umar said: “And that slave girl, send her with them.”
