✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought Hatib b. Abi Balta'ah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: "Did you write this letter?" He said: "Yes. By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, it was not that I lacked faith in my heart, but there was no one among Quraysh who did not have family and servants to protect his family, so I wrote a letter hoping that Allah would protect my family by it." Umar said: "Give me permission regarding him." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Would you have killed him?" He said: "Yes, if you permit me regarding him." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "And what would make you know? Perhaps Allah has looked upon the people of Badr and said: 'Do whatever you wish.'"
