✧ I obtained an old she-camel among the spoils of Badr with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave me another old she-camel. I made both of them kneel at the door of a man from the Ansar, intending to load on them sweet rush to sell, and with me was a goldsmith from Banu Qaynuqaʿ. ʿAli said, 'I was seeking his help for the wedding feast of Fatima.' Hamza b. ʿAbd al-Muttalib was in the house drinking, and with him was a singing girl who was singing to him: 'O Hamza, for the noble old she-camels.' He rushed at them with his sword, cut off their humps, ripped open their flanks, and took some of their livers. I said to Ibn Shihab, 'And from the hump?' He said, 'He cut off their humps.' He said: I looked at something that horrified me, and I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and with him was Zayd b. Haritha. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out, and with him was Zayd b. Haritha, and I went out with him until he stood over Hamza. He said: He became angry with him. He said: Hamza raised his eyes and said, 'Are you not but slaves of my fathers?' He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ backed away from him.
