حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، وَسُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ:

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: أَنُؤَاخَذُ بِمَا عَمِلْنَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنْ أَحْسَنْتَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ لَمْ تُؤَاخَذْ بِهِ، وَإِنْ أَسَأْتَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ أُخِذْتَ بِالْأَوَّلِ وَالْآخِرِ

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: Will we be held accountable for what we did in the pre-Islamic era? He said: If you do good in Islam, you will not be held accountable for it; but if you do evil in Islam, you will be held accountable for the first and the last.
