✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ loved sweets and honey; when he prayed the afternoon prayer, he would go around to his wives and draw near to them. He entered upon Hafsa and stayed with her longer than he used to. So I asked about that, and I was told: A woman of her people gave her a skin of honey, and she gave the Prophet a drink. I said: By God, we will devise a plan against him. So I mentioned that to Sawda, and I said: When he enters upon you, he will draw near, so say to him: O Messenger of God, did you eat maghafir? He will say to you: Hafsa gave me a drink of honey. So say to him: Its bees grazed on the urfut. And I will say that to him, and you too, O Safiyya. When he entered upon Sawda, she said: Sawda says: By the One besides whom there is no god, I thought to initiate what you said while he was at the door, out of fear of you. When he drew near, she said: O Messenger of God, did you eat maghafir? He said: No. She said: What is this smell? He said: Hafsa gave me a drink of honey. She said: I said: Its bees grazed on the urfut. When he entered upon me, I said the same to him, then he entered upon Safiyya, and she said the same to him. When he entered upon Hafsa, she said: O Messenger of God, shall I give you a drink? He said: I have no need of it. She said: Sawda says: Glory be to God, we have deprived him. She said: I said: Be quiet.
