✧ I witnessed Ali when he killed the people of Nahrawan. He said: Seek the maimed one. He said: They searched among the dead and said: We do not find him. He said: Go back and search for him, for by God I have not lied, nor have I been lied to. They went back and searched, then he repeated the same several times: I have not lied, nor have I been lied to. They went and found him beneath the dead in the mud, and they extracted him and brought him. Abu al-Wadi' said: It is as if I am looking at him, an Abyssinian wearing a short tunic, one of his hands like a woman's breast, with hairs on it like the hairs on a jerboa's tail.
