حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مِهْرَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ:
رَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْبَقِيعِ، فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ فَوَجَدَنِي وَأَنَا أَجِدُ صُدَاعًا فِي رَأْسِي، وَأَنَا أَقُولُ: وَارَأْسَاهُ قَالَ: بَلْ أَنَا وَاللهِ يَا عَائِشَةُ، وَارَأْسَاهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: وَمَا يَضُرُّكِ لَوْ مُتِّ قَبْلِي، فَقُمْتُ عَلَيْكِ فَكَفَّنْتُكِ، ثُمَّ صَلَّيْتُ عَلَيْكِ، وَدَفَنْتُكِ ؟ قَالَتْ: وَاللهِ لَكَأَنِّي بِكَ لَوْ فَعَلْتَ ذَلِكَ قَدْ رَجَعْتَ إِلَى بَيْتِي فَأَعْرَسْتَ فِيهِ بِبَعْضِ نِسَائِكَ قَالَ: فَتَبَسَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: وَتَتَامَّ بِهِ وَجَعُهُ حَتَّى اسْتَعَرَّ بِهِ وَهُوَ فِي بَيْتِ مَيْمُونَةَ، فَدَعَا نِسَاءَهُ، فَسَأَلَهُنَّ أَنْ يَأْذَنَّ لَهُ أَنْ يُمَرَّضَ فِي بَيْتِي، فَأَذِنَّ لَهُ، فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْشِي بَيْنَ رَجُلَيْنِ مِنْ أَهْلِهِ أَحَدُهُمَا، الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، وَرَجُلٌ آخَرُ تَخُطُّ قَدَمَاهُ، عَاصِبًا رَأْسَهُ حَتَّى جَاءَ بَيْتِي. قَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللهِ: فَحَدَّثْتُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: تَدْرِي مَنِ الرَّجُلُ الْآخَرُ ؟ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: لَا. قَالَ: عَلِيٌّ، ثُمَّ غُمِيَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ، وَاشْتَدَّ بِهِ وَجَعُهُ، ثُمَّ أَفَاقَ، قَالَ: أَهْرِيقُوا عَلَيَّ سَبْعَ قِرَبٍ مِنْ آبَارٍ شَتَّى حَتَّى أَخْرُجَ إِلَى النَّاسِ، فَأَعْهَدَ إِلَيْهِمْ. قَالَتْ: فَأَقْعَدْنَاهُ فِي مِخْضَبٍ لِحَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ عُمَرَ، فَصَبَبْنَا عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ حَتَّى طَفِقَ يَقُولُ بِيَدِهِ: حَسْبُكُمْ، حَسْبُكُمْ. قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: ثُمَّ خَرَجَ، كَمَا

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ returned from al-Baqi' and came in to me, finding me with a headache in my head, while I was saying: Oh my head! He said: Rather, I, by God, O Aisha, oh my head! Then he said: What would harm you if you were to die before me, and I would stand over you, shroud you, pray over you, and bury you? She said: By God, it is as if I could see you, if you did that, returning to my house and consummating marriage there with one of your wives. She said: The Messenger of God ﷺ smiled. His pain intensified until it flared up while he was in the house of Maymunah. He called his wives and asked them to permit him to be nursed in my house, and they permitted him. The Messenger of God ﷺ went out walking between two men of his family, one of them al-Fadl b. Abbas, and another man, his feet dragging, with his head bandaged, until he came to my house. Ubayd Allah said: I narrated this hadith to Abd Allah b. Abbas; he said: Do you know who the other man was? I said: No. He said: Ali. Then the Messenger of God fell unconscious, and his pain became severe. Then he regained consciousness and said: Pour over me seven water-skins from various wells so that I may go out to the people and give them my final instructions.
