حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنِي النَّضْرُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ الْكُوفِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْجَارُودِ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ الْهَمْدَانِيِّ، قَالَ:

رَأَيْتُ عَلِيًّا جَاءَ حَتَّى صَعِدَ، فَحَمِدَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: قَضَاءٌ قَضَاهُ اللهُ عَلَى لِسَانِ نَبِيِّكُمْ ﷺ النَّبِيِّ الْأُمِّيِّ؛ أَنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّنِي إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ، وَلَا يُبْغِضُنِي إِلَّا مُنَافِقٌ، وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنِ افْتَرَى، قَالَ: قَالَ النَّضْرُ: وَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ: أَنَا أَخُو رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَابْنُ عَمِّهِ، لَا يَقُولُهَا أَحَدٌ بَعْدِي.

✧ I saw Ali come and ascend the pulpit; he praised God and extolled Him, then said: 'It is a decree that God decreed upon the tongue of your Prophet ﷺ, the unlettered Prophet: that no one loves me except a believer, and no one hates me except a hypocrite. He who has fabricated has failed.' Al-Nadr said: 'Ali also said: I am the brother of the Messenger of God ﷺ and his cousin; no one after me can say this.'
