حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ هُبَيْرَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أُهْدِيَتْ لَهُ حُلَّةٌ مِنْ حَرِيرٍ، قَالَ: فَكَسَانِيهَا، قَالَ عَلِيٌّ: فَخَرَجْتُ فِيهَا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: إِنِّي لَسْتُ أَرْضَى لَكَ مَا أَكْرَهُ لِنَفْسِي، فَأَمَرَنِي، فَشَقَقْتُهَا بَيْنَ نِسَائِي: فَاطِمَةَ، وَعَمَّتِهَا

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ was gifted a silk robe. He said: 'He clothed me with it.' Ali said: 'I went out wearing it, and the Prophet ﷺ said: "I am not pleased for you with what I dislike for myself." Then he ordered me, and I tore it up and divided it among my women: Fatimah and her aunt.'
