حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعُمَيْسِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو طَلْحَةَ قَالَ:
قَدِمَ أَنَسٌ الْكُوفَةَ قَالَ: فَأَتَاهُ النَّاسُ فَقَالُوا: حَدِّثْنَا مَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: إِلَيْكُمْ عَنِّي أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ حَتَّى أَلْجَئُوهُ إِلَى حَائِطِ الْقَصْرِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ مَا أَعْلَمُ لَضَحِكْتُمْ قَلِيلًا وَلَبَكَيْتُمْ كَثِيرًا، أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ انْصَرِفُوا عَنِّي، فَانْصَرَفُوا
Translation

✧ Anas came to Kufa. He said: The people came to him and said: "Narrate to us what you heard from the Messenger of God ﷺ." He said: while he was saying: "Leave me alone, O people," until they pressed him to the wall of the palace. Then he said: "O people, if you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much. O people, go away from me." So they left.
