حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:

كَانَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ إِذَا كَانَ فِي جَيْشٍ نَثَرَ كِنَانَتَهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ، وَقَالَ: نَفْسِي لِنَفْسِكَ الْفِدَاءُ، وَوَجْهِي لِوَجْهِكَ الْوِقَاءُ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: صَوْتُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ فِي الْجَيْشِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ فِئَةٍ

Translation

✧ Abu Talha, when he was in an army, would scatter his quiver before him and say: My life be your ransom, and my face be your protection. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The voice of Abu Talha in the army is better than a detachment.
