✧ Ali b. Zayd on the authority of Anas

وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، أَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: قَالَ ابْنُ جُدْعَانَ، يَعْنِي عَلِيَّ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ جُدْعَانَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:

كَانَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ يَجْثُو بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْحَرْبِ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: وَجْهِي لِوَجْهِكَ الْفِدَاءُ وَنَفْسِي لِنَفْسِكَ الْوِقَاءُ قَالَ، وَقَالَ: يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ ﷺ: صَوْتُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ فِي الْجَيْشِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ فِئَةٍ

Translation

✧ Abu Talhah used to kneel before the Messenger of God ﷺ in battle, then say: "My face is the ransom for your face, and my soul is the protection for your soul." He said, and he said, meaning the Prophet ﷺ: "The voice of Abu Talhah in the army is better than a troop."
