✧ I asked Anas b. Malik about drinks, and he said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade pitch-coated vessels, and he said, "Every intoxicant is unlawful."' He said, 'I said to him, "You have spoken the truth; intoxication is unlawful. I only drink a sip or two after food."' He said, 'He said to me, "Whatever intoxicates in large quantity, a small quantity of it is unlawful."' He said, 'Then wine was made unlawful, and it is from grapes, dates, honey, wheat, barley, and corn, and whatever you ferment from that is wine.'
