حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَهْزٍ الصَّقْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ بِنْتِ مَالِكِ بْنِ مِغْوَلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، عَنِ الْمُخْتَارِ بْنِ فُلْفُلٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:
جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَدَخَلَ إِلَى بُسْتَانٍ، فَجَاءَ آتٍ فَدَقَّ الْبَابَ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَنَسُ، قُمْ فَافْتَحْ لَهُ، وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ، وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْخِلَافَةِ مِنْ بَعْدِي، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أُعْلِمُهُ ؟ قَالَ: أَعْلِمْهُ، فَإِذَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قُلْتُ: أَبْشِرْ بِالْجَنَّةِ، وَأَبْشِرْ بِالْخِلَافَةِ مِنْ بَعْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ جَاءَ آتٍ فَدَقَّ الْبَابَ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَنَسُ، قُمْ فَافْتَحْ لَهُ، وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ، وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْخِلَافَةِ مِنْ بَعْدِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أُعْلِمُهُ ؟ قَالَ: أَعْلِمْهُ ؟ قَالَ: فَخَرَجْتُ فَإِذَا عُمَرُ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لَهُ: أَبْشِرْ بِالْجَنَّةِ، وَأَبْشِرْ بِالْخِلَافَةِ مِنْ بَعْدِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ جَاءَ آتٍ فَدَقَّ الْبَابَ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَنَسُ، قُمْ فَافْتَحْ لَهُ، وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ، وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْخِلَافَةِ مِنْ بَعْدِ عُمَرَ، وَأَنَّهُ مَقْتُولٌ، قَالَ: فَخَرَجْتُ فَإِذَا عُثْمَانُ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لَهُ: أَبْشِرْ بِالْجَنَّةِ، وَبِالْخِلَافَةِ مِنْ بَعْدِ عُمَرَ، وَأَنَّكَ مَقْتُولٌ، قَالَ: فَدَخَلَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لِمَهْ ؟ وَاللهِ مَا تَغَنَّيْتُ، وَلَا تَمَنَّيْتُ، وَلَا مَسِسْتُ فَرْجِي مُنْذُ بَايَعْتُكَ، قَالَ: هُوَ ذَاكَ يَا عُثْمَانُ

✧ The Prophet ﷺ came and entered a garden. Then someone came and knocked on the door. He said: O Anas, get up and open for him, and give him glad tidings of Paradise, and give him glad tidings of the caliphate after me. I said: O Messenger of God, shall I tell him? He said: Tell him. It was Abu Bakr. I said: Rejoice in Paradise and rejoice in the caliphate after the Messenger of God ﷺ. Then someone came and knocked on the door. He said: O Anas, get up and open for him, and give him glad tidings of Paradise, and give him glad tidings of the caliphate after Abu Bakr. He said: I said: O Messenger of God, shall I tell him? He said: Tell him? He said: I went out and it was Umar. He said: I said to him: Rejoice in Paradise and rejoice in the caliphate after Abu Bakr. Then someone came and knocked on the door. He said: O Anas, get up and open for him, and give him glad tidings of Paradise, and give him glad tidings of the caliphate after Umar, and that he will be killed. He said: I went out and it was Uthman. He said: I said to him: Rejoice in Paradise and in the caliphate after Umar, and that you will be killed. He said: He entered upon the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of God, why? By God, I have not sung, nor wished, nor touched my private part since I pledged allegiance to you. He said: That is it, O Uthman.
