✧ On the day of Uhud, some people fled from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, while Abu Talhah was in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ shielding him with a shield that he had. He said: Abu Talhah was an archer with a strong draw, and he broke two or three bows that day. A man would pass by a quiver containing arrows, and he would say: 'Scatter them for Abu Talhah.' He said: The Prophet of Allah ﷺ would raise his head to look at the people, and Abu Talhah would say: 'O Prophet of Allah, may my father and mother be your ransom, do not raise your head lest an arrow from the people's arrows strike you. My neck is before your neck.' I saw A'ishah bt. Abi Bakr and Umm Sulaym, and they were tucking up their garments so that I saw the anklets on their calves, carrying water on their backs, then pouring it into the mouths of the people, then returning to fill them again, then coming and pouring it into the mouths of the people. The sword fell from Abu Talhah's hand from drowsiness, either twice or three times.
