✧ Humayd al-Tawil from Anas b. Malik

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ حُمَيْدًا، وَذَكَرَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسًا، قَالَ:

خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ وَقَدْ عَصَبَ رَأْسَهُ، فَتَلَقَّتْهُ الْأَنْصَارُ بِوُجُوهِهِمْ وَفِتْيَانِهِمْ، فَقَالَ: وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ، إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّكُمْ، إِنَّ الْأَنْصَارَ قَدْ قَضَوُا الَّذِي عَلَيْهِمْ وَبَقِيَ الَّذِي عَلَيْكُمْ، فَأَحْسِنُوا إِلَى مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَتَجَاوَزُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ came out one day with his head bandaged. The Ansar met him with their faces and their young men, and he said: By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, I love you. The Ansar have fulfilled what was upon them, and what remains is upon you, so be good to those who do good among them and overlook those who do wrong among them.
