✧ The Prophet ﷺ returned from Khaybar, and when he was between al-Madinah and Khaybar, he consummated his marriage with Safiyyah. He stayed with her for three days and held a wedding feast. Umm Sulaym baked bread, spread a leather mat, and they poured dates, clarified butter, and dried curds onto it, and there was nothing else. Then he mounted his riding animal. The people said: If he veils her, she is among the Mothers of the Believers. When he mounted, he seated her behind him and veiled her with a cloth. When he entered al-Madinah, he would urge his camel to a faster pace. When he entered, he urged his camel, and the people climbed up. The Mothers of the Believers were looking at the Messenger of God ﷺ and at her. The she-camel stumbled, and the Prophet ﷺ was thrown. He was concerned only with arranging her clothes over her. He said: It was as if they gloated over her.
