حَدَّثَنَا الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ:

خَرَجْتُ مَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ بَعْدَ وَفَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِلَيَالٍ، وَعَلِيٌّ يَمْشِي إِلَى جَنْبِهِ، فَمَرَّ بِالْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَهُوَ يَلْعَبُ مَعَ الْغِلْمَانِ، فَاحْتَمَلَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ وَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ: وَا بِأَبِي شَبِيهُ النَّبِيِّ، لَيْسَ شَبِيهٌ بِعَلِيٍّ ! قَالَ: وَعَلِيٌّ يَضْحَكُ

✧ I went out with Abu Bakr al-Siddiq after the ʿAsr prayer, nights after the death of the Messenger of God ﷺ, and ʿAli was walking at his side. He passed by al-Hasan b. ʿAli while he was playing with the boys, so Abu Bakr lifted him onto his shoulder and began saying: 'May my father be ransomed for the one who resembles the Prophet, not one who resembles ʿAli!' He said: And ʿAli was laughing.
