حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:
مُرَّ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِجِنَازَةٍ فَأَثْنَى الْقَوْمُ عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: وَجَبَتْ، ثُمَّ مُرَّ بِأُخْرَى فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا شَرًّا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: وَجَبَتْ، فَقِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَدْ قُلْتَ لِهَذِهِ وَجَبَتْ وَلِهَذِهِ وَجَبَتْ ؟ قَالَ: شَهَادَةُ الْقَوْمِ، وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ شُهَدَاءُ اللهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ
Translation

✧ A funeral passed by the Messenger of God ﷺ and the people praised it well, so the Messenger of God ﷺ said: It is assured. Then another passed by and was spoken of badly, and the Messenger of God ﷺ said: It is assured. It was said: O Messenger of God, you said for this one, "It is assured," and for that one, "It is assured"? He said: The testimony of the people. The believers are the witnesses of God on earth.
