حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:

كُنْتُ أَسْقِي أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ، وَأَبَا طَلْحَةَ، وَأُبَيَّ بْنَ كَعْبٍ، وَسِمَاكَ بْنَ خَرَشَةَ، وَسُهَيْلَ بْنَ بَيْضَاءَ، خَلِيطَ التَّمْرِ وَالْبُسْرِ حَتَّى أَسْرَعَتْ فِيهِمْ، فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ يُنَادِي: أَلَا إِنَّ الْخَمْرَ قَدْ حُرِّمَتْ، قَالَ: فَقَالُوا: يَا أَنَسُ اكْفَأْ إِنَاءَكَ، فَوَاللهِ مَا انْتَظَرُوا أَنْ يَعْلَمُوا أَصَادِقٌ هُوَ أَمْ كَاذِبٌ، فَوَاللهِ مَا رَجَعَتْ إِلَى رُؤُوسِهِمْ حَتَّى لَقُوا اللهَ

Translation

✧ I was giving Abu 'Ubaydah, Abu Talhah, Ubayy b. Ka'b, Simak b. Kharashah, and Suhayl b. Bayda' a drink of mixed dried dates and unripe dates until it took effect on them. Then a man passed by calling out: 'Indeed wine has been forbidden.' He said: So they said: 'O Anas, tip over your vessel.' By Allah, they did not wait to find out whether he was truthful or lying. By Allah, it never returned to their heads until they met Allah.
