✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made peace with Quraysh on the day of Hudaybiyyah, he said to Ali: Write: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Suhayl b. Amr said: We do not recognize the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful; write: In Your name, O Allah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Ali: Write: This is what Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, has agreed upon. Suhayl b. Amr said: If we knew that you were the Messenger of Allah, we would have followed you and not denied you; write your lineage from your father. The Prophet ﷺ said to Ali: Write: Muhammad b. Abdullah. He wrote: Whoever of you comes to us, we will return him to you; and whoever of us comes to you, we will leave him with you. They said: O Messenger of Allah, will you grant them this? He said: Whoever of us goes to them, may Allah distance him; and whoever of them comes to us and we return him to them, Allah will make for him a way out and an escape.
