حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ هُبَيْرَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أُهْدِيَتْ لَهُ حُلَّةٌ مِنْ حَرِيرٍ، قَالَ: فَكَسَانِيهَا، قَالَ عَلِيٌّ: فَخَرَجْتُ فِيهَا، فَقَالَ لِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: إِنِّي لَسْتُ أَرْضَى لَكَ مَا أَكْرَهُ لِنَفْسِي، قَالَ: وَأَمَرَنِي فَشَقَقْتُهَا بَيْنَ نِسَائِي خُمُرًا: فَاطِمَةَ، وَعَمَّتِهِ

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ was gifted a silk garment. He said: "He clothed me with it." Ali said: "I went out wearing it, and the Prophet ﷺ said to me: 'I am not pleased for you with what I dislike for myself.' He said: 'And he commanded me, so I tore it into pieces among my women as head covers: Fatimah and his paternal aunt.'"
