حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ نَصْرٍ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى الصَّفَّارُ، قَالَ:

سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَوْ سُئِلَ: أَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَفْضَلُ الصَّدَقَةِ الْمَاءُ، أَلَمْ تَسْمَعْ إِلَى أَهْلِ النَّارِ لَمَّا اسْتَغَاثُوا بِأَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ قَالُوا: أَفِيضُوا عَلَيْنَا مِنَ الْمَاءِ أَوْ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللهُ

Translation

✧ I asked Ibn 'Abbas, or he was asked: “Which charity is best?” He said: “The Messenger of God ﷺ said: ‘The best charity is water. Have you not heard that when the people of the Fire sought help from the people of Paradise, they said: “Pour upon us some water or from what God has provided you” (Q 7:50)?’”
