✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ came to Madinah, he saw the Jews fasting on Ashura. He said: "What is this day that you fast?" They said: "This is a righteous day. This is the day on which God saved the Children of Israel from their enemy." He said: "So Moses fasted on it." The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "I am more entitled to Moses than you." So the Messenger of God ﷺ fasted on it and commanded fasting on it.
