حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ:

جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَجَعَلَ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِكَلَامٍ بَيِّنٍ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: إِنَّ مِنَ الْبَيَانِ سِحْرًا، وَإِنَّ مِنَ الشِّعْرِ حُكْمًا

Translation

✧ A Bedouin came to the Prophet ﷺ and began speaking with eloquent speech. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Indeed, some eloquence is sorcery, and some poetry is wisdom.'
