✧ Hatib b. Abi Balta'a wrote to the people of Makkah mentioning that the Messenger of God ﷺ intended to raid them. The Messenger of God ﷺ was led to the woman who had the letter, and he sent for her. The letter was taken from her head. He said: O Hatib, did you do this? He said: Yes. Indeed, I did not do it out of treachery to the Messenger of God ﷺ or out of hypocrisy. I knew that God would make His Messenger victorious and complete His affair for him. However, I was among them, and my mother was with them, so I wanted to secure her with them. Umar said to him: Shall I strike this man's neck? He said: Would you kill a man from the people of Badr? And what do you know? Perhaps God has looked upon the people of Badr and said: Do whatever you wish.
