حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ الْهَرَوِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ:
قَدِمَ رَجُلٌ الْمَدِينَةَ مُهَاجِرًا، قَالَ: فَحُمَّ حُمَّى شَدِيدَةً، فَأَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَقِلْنِي الْهِجْرَةَ، فَقَالَ: لَا وَاللهِ لَا أُقِيلُكَ، إِنَّ الْإِسْلَامَ لَا يُقَالُ، قَالَ الْحَجَّاجُ: وَذَكَرَ أَنَّهُ غَيْرَ مَرَّةٍ كُلَّ ذَلِكَ يَأْبَى عَلَيْهِ فَخَرَجَ بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهِ، فَأُخْبِرَ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: إِنَّهَا طَيْبَةُ تَنْفِي خَبَثَ الرِّجَالِ كَمَا يَنْفِي الْكِيرُ خَبَثَ الْحَدِيدِ

✧ A man came to Madinah as an emigrant. He said: He fell ill with a severe fever. He came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: O Messenger of God, release me from the emigration. He said: No, by God, I will not release you. Islam cannot be released. Al-Hajjaj said: He mentioned that more than once, and each time he refused him. So he left without his permission. The Prophet ﷺ was told about it and said: It is good (Taybah); it expels the filth of men just as the bellows expel the dross of iron.
