حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ:
كَانَتِ الْعَرَبُ يُفِيضُ بِهِمُ الرَّجُلُ يُقَالُ لَهُ أَبُو سَيَّارَةَ عَلَى حِمَارٍ، فَلَمَّا حَجَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَفَتْ قُرَيْشٌ مَوَاقِفَهَا، فَكَانَتْ تَقُولُ: نَحْنُ الْحُمْسُ، فَخَرَجَ حَتَّى وَقَفَ بِعَرَفَاتٍ فَهُوَ قَوْلُهُ: ثُمَّ أَفِيضُوا مِنْ حَيْثُ أَفَاضَ النَّاسُ
Translation

✧ The Arabs used to be led away by a man called Abu Sayyarah on a donkey, but when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed Hajj, Quraysh stood at their stations, and they used to say: 'We are the Hums.' He went out until he stood at 'Arafat, and that is His saying: 'Then depart from where the people depart.'
