  • al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī

machine translational-Dāraquṭnī was asked about him, and he mentioned the disagreement concerning him and said: "al-Aʿmash preserved its chain of transmission and its ḥadīth, and that is the correct one." It was said to him: "But al-Bukhārī, as Abū ʿĪsā mentioned from him, ruled in favour of the ḥadīth of al-Ḥasan b. ʿUbaydillāh," meaning that he narrated it from Ibrāhīm, from ʿAlqamah, from al-Qarthaʿ, from Qays or Ibn Qays, a man from Juʿfī. So al-Dāraquṭnī said: "In my view the ḥadīth of al-Aʿmash is the correct one, and al-Ḥasan b. ʿUbaydillāh is not strong (laysa bi-l-qawī)." Then he said: "al-Ḥasan is not to be compared with al-Aʿmash."
