حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ:

أَقْبَلْنَا مِنْ مَكَّةَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: فَأَعْيَا جَمَلِي فَتَخَلَّفْتُ عَلَيْهِ أَسُوقُهُ، قَالَ: وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حَاجَةٍ مُتَخَلِّفًا فَلَحِقَنِي فَقَالَ لِي: مَا لَكَ مُتَخَلِّفًا ؟ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: لَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِلَّا أَنَّ جَمَلِي ضَلَعَ عَلَيَّ فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أُلْحِقَهُ بِالْقَوْمِ، قَالَ: فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِذَنَبِهِ فَضَرَبَهُ، ثُمَّ زَجَرَهُ، فَقَالَ: ارْكَبْ، فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي بَعْدُ وَإِنِّي لَأَكُفُّهُ عَنِ الْقَوْمِ. قَالَ: فَنَزَلْنَا مَنْزِلًا دُونَ الْمَدِينَةِ فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَتَعَجَّلَ إِلَى أَهْلِي، فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَا تَأْتِ أَهْلَكَ طُرُوقًا، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِعُرْسٍ، قَالَ: فَمَا تَزَوَّجْتَ ؟ قُلْتُ: امْرَأَةً ثَيِّبًا، قَالَ: فَهَلَّا بِكْرًا تُلَاعِبُهَا وَتُلَاعِبُكَ ؟ قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ تُوُفِّيَ أَوِ اسْتُشْهِدَ، وَتَرَكَ جَوَارِيَ، فَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ أَتَزَوَّجَ إِلَيْهِنَّ مِثْلَهُنَّ، قَالَ: فَسَكَتْ وَلَمْ يَقُلْ لِي أَحْسَنْتَ وَلَا أَسَأْتَ. قَالَ: ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي: بِعْنِي جَمَلَكَ هَذَا، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: لَا، بَلْ هُوَ لَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: لَا، بَلْ بِعْنِيهِ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: لَا، بَلْ هُوَ لَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: لَا، بَلْ بِعْنِيهِ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: فَإِنَّ لِرَجُلٍ عَلَيَّ أُوقِيَّةَ ذَهَبٍ فَهُوَ لَكَ بِهَا، قَالَ: قَدْ أَخَذْتُ، فَتَبَلَّغْ عَلَيْهِ الْمَدِينَةَ، قَالَ: فَلَمَّا قَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِبِلَالٍ: أَعْطِهِ أُوقِيَّةَ ذَهَبٍ وَزِدْهُ، قَالَ: فَأَعْطَانِي أُوقِيَّةَ ذَهَبٍ وَزَادَنِي قِيرَاطًا، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: لَا تُفَارِقُنِي زِيَادَةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، قَالَ: فَكَانَ فِي كِيسٍ لِي فَأَخَذَهُ أَهْلُ الشَّامِ يَوْمَ الْحَرَّةِ

✧ We set out from Makkah to Madinah with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: My camel became exhausted, so I lagged behind driving it. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had remained behind for a need, and he caught up with me and said to me: 'Why are you lagging behind?' He said: I said: 'No, O Messenger of Allah, except that my camel has gone lame, so I wanted to catch up with the people.' He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took hold of its tail and struck it, then urged it on, and said: 'Mount.' And I saw myself afterward holding it back from the people. He said: We stopped at a place short of Madinah, and I wanted to hasten to my family. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: 'Do not come to your family at night.' He said: I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I am newly married.' He said: 'What did you marry?' I said: 'A previously married woman.' He said: 'Why not a virgin, so you could play with her and she could play with you?' He said: I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, Abdullah died or was martyred, and left young daughters, and I disliked to bring to them someone like them.' He said: He remained silent and did not say to me, 'You did well' or 'You did badly.' He said: Then he said to me: 'Sell me this camel of yours.' He said: I said: 'No, rather it is yours, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'No, sell it to me.' He said: I said: 'No, rather it is yours, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'No, sell it to me.' He said: I said: 'A man is owed by me an uqiyah of gold, so it is yours for that.' He said: 'I have taken it, and ride it to Madinah.' He said: When I arrived in Madinah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Bilal: 'Give him an uqiyah of gold and add more.' He said: So he gave me an uqiyah of gold and added a qirat. He said: I said: 'The addition of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ will never leave me.' He said: It was in a purse of mine, and the people of Syria took it on the day of al-Harrah.
