حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْغَفَّارِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُطَارِدٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ، عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ، عَنْ أَسِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي جُمُعَةَ، قَالَ:
تَغَدَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، وَمَعَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَحَدٌ خَيْرٌ مِنَّا ؟ أَسْلَمْنَا مَعَكَ، وَجَاهَدْنَا مَعَكَ، قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَوْمٌ يَكُونُونَ مِنْ بَعْدِي يُؤْمِنُونَ بِي، وَلَمْ يَرَوْنِي

✧ I ate lunch with the Prophet ﷺ, and Abu Ubayda b. al-Jarrah was with us. Abu Ubayda said to him: O Messenger of Allah, is there anyone better than us? We embraced Islam with you and fought alongside you. He said: Yes, a people who will come after me, who believe in me without having seen me.
