✧ I asked Ibn 'Abbas about money exchange. He said: "Hand to hand." I said: "Yes." He said: "No harm." He said: Then I met Abu Sa'id and told him that I asked Ibn 'Abbas about money exchange, and he said: "No harm in it." He said: "Did he say that? Indeed, we shall write to him so he will not give you that ruling." He said: "By God, one of the young servants of the Messenger of God ﷺ brought some dates, and he found them strange. He said: 'It is as though this is not from the dates of our land?' He said: 'In this year's dates there was something, so I took this and added some increase.' He said: 'You have doubled, you have dealt in usury. Do not approach this. If you have any doubt about your dates, sell them, then buy the dates you want.'"
