حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ، يَقُولُ:
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّكُمْ تَقْرَؤُونَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ وَتَضَعُونَهَا عَلَى غَيْرِ مَوَاضِعِهَا: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ لا يَضُرُّكُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ، وَإِنَّا سَمِعْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، يَقُولُ: إِنَّ النَّاسَ إِذَا رَأَوُا الْمُنْكَرَ فَلَمْ يُغَيِّرُوهُ أَوْشَكَ أَنْ يَعُمَّهُمُ اللهُ بِعِقَابِهِ
Translation

✧ O people, you recite this verse and apply it other than its proper places: O you who believe, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided. We heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: When people see wrongdoing and do not change it, Allah is about to encompass them all with His punishment.
