Habib al-Ansari reported: I heard Abbad ibn Tamim who reported on the authority of my grandmother, Umm Umarah, saying: The Prophet ﷺ wanted to perform ablution. A vessel containing 2/3 mudd of water was brought to him.

in سنن أبي داود, p. 94 - Abū ʿAbdullāh al-Ḥākim
machine translationWhen Abū al-Qāsim mentioned it in al-Awsaṭ, he said: "Al-Wāqidī was alone in transmitting it, and it is not narrated from Ibn Zayd except with this chain, and the hadith of Umm ʿUmārah is more sound," meaning the hadith mentioned earlier from Abū Dāwūd, and God knows best. The hafiz Abū Bakr b. Khuzaymah disagreed with that, and narrated it in his Ṣaḥīḥ from Abū Kurayb, from Yaḥyā, and he mentioned it with the wording: "He was brought two-thirds of a mudd, so he performed ablution and began to rub his forearms." Al-Ḥākim said: "It is sound (ṣaḥīḥ) according to the condition of the two Shaykhs, though they did not record it." In this is a rebuttal of what Abū ʿĪsā mentioned, that the hadith of ʿAlī is the soundest thing on the subject.
