What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationThey all revolve around ʿAbdullāh b. Muḥammad b. ʿAqīl, and there is criticism of him.

  • ʿAbd al-ʿAẓīm al-Mudhirī

machine translationThis is a good (ḥasan) hadith. Then at the end he said: "ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAqīl is weak (ḍaʿīf)." So how can the hadith be good when it revolves around a weak narrator, as he claims?

machine translationAl-Tirmidhī transmitted from al-Bukhārī: Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal, Isḥāq b. Rāhawayh and al-Ḥumaydī used to take his hadith as evidence, that is, Ibn ʿAqīl's, and he is close in hadith (muqārib al-ḥadīth).

  • Mubarakpūri

machine translationIn its chain is Ibn ʿAqīl, about whom there is a well-known criticism, as you have learned, and in its text there is inconsistency (iḍṭirāb).
