عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ: وَأَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ:
دَخَلْتُ عَلَى حَفْصَةَ وَنَوَسَاتُهَا تَنْطِفُ، فَقُلْتُ: قَدْ كَانَ مِنْ أَمْرِ النَّاسِ مَا تَرَيْنَ، وَلَمْ يُجْعَلْ لِي مِنَ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ " قَالَتْ: فَالْحَقْ بِهِمْ، فَإِنَّهُمْ يَنْتَظِرُونَكَ، وَالَّذِي أَخْشَى أَنْ يَكُونَ فِي احْتِبَاسِكَ عَنْهُمْ فُرْقَةٌ. فَلَمْ تَدَعْهُ حَتَّى يَذْهَبَ، فَلَمَّا تَفَرَّقَ الْحَكَمَانِ خَطَبَ مُعَاوِيَةُ فَقَالَ: مَنْ كَانَ مُتَكَلِّمًا فَلْيُطْلِعْ قَرْنَهُ
Translation
✧ I entered upon Hafsah while her braids were dripping. I said: 'You see what has happened regarding the people, and nothing of the affair has been given to me.' She said: 'Then join them, for they are waiting for you. What I fear is that your holding back from them may cause division.' She did not leave him until he went. When the two arbiters separated, Mu'awiyah gave a sermon and said: 'Whoever has something to say, let him show his horn.'
