عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ قَالَتْ:
دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ وَهُوَ شَاكٍ فَقَالَ: اسْتَخْلَفْتَ عُمَرَ ؟ وَقَدْ كَانَ عَتَا عَلَيْنَا وَلَا سُلْطَانَ لَهُ، فَلَوْ قَدْ مَلَكَنَا لَكَانَ أَعْتَى عَلَيْنَا وَأَعْتَى، فَكَيْفَ تَقُولُ لِلهِ إِذَا لَقِيتَهُ ؟ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: " أَجْلِسُونِي " فَأَجْلَسُوهُ فَقَالَ: " هَلْ تُفَرِّقُنِي إِلَّا بِاللهِ ؟ فَإِنِّي أَقُولُ إِذَا لَقِيتُهُ: اسْتَخْلَفْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ خَيْرَ أَهْلِكَ "
Translation

machine translationʿAbd al-Razzāq, from Maʿmar, from al-Zuhrī, from al-Qāsim b. Muḥammad, from Asmāʾ bint ʿUmays, who said:
✧ A man from the Muhajirun entered upon Abu Bakr, may Allah have mercy on him, while he was ill, and said: Have you appointed Umar as successor? He had been harsh with us when he had no authority; if he gains power over us, he will be even harsher. What will you say to Allah when you meet Him? Abu Bakr said: Sit me up. So they sat him up, and he said: You do not frighten me except with Allah. I will say when I meet Him: I appointed over them the best of Your people.
