عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ:
عُرِضْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ وَأَنَا ابْنُ أَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: فَكَانَ عُمَرُ: لَا يَفْرِضُ لِأَحَدٍ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ وَيَحْتَلِمَ إِلَّا مِائَةَ دِرْهَمٍ، وَكَانَ لَا يَفْرِضُ لِمَوْلُودٍ حَتَّى يُفْطَمَ، فَبَيْنَا هُوَ يَطُوفُ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ بِالْمُصَلَّى بَكَى صَبِيٌّ فَقَالَ لِأُمِّهِ: " أَرْضِعِيهِ " فَقَالَتْ: إِنَّ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَا يَفْرِضُ لِمَوْلُودٍ حَتَّى يُفْطَمَ، وَإِنِّي قَدْ فَطَمْتُهُ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: " إِنْ كِدْتُ لَأَنْ أَقْتُلَهُ، أَرْضِعِيهِ، فَإِنَّ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ سَوْفَ يَفْرِضُ لَهُ، ثُمَّ فَرَضَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ لِلْمَوْلُودِ حِينَ يُولَدُ
Translation
✧ I was presented to the Prophet ﷺ on the day of Uhud, and I was fourteen years old. Then he mentioned something similar to the hadith of Abdullah b. Umar. He said: Umar would not assign a stipend to anyone until he reached puberty and had a wet dream, except one hundred dirhams. And he would not assign a stipend to a newborn until he was weaned. While he was walking around the prayer place one night, a baby cried, so he said to its mother: “Nurse him.” She said: “The Commander of the Faithful does not assign a stipend to a newborn until he is weaned, and I have weaned him.” Umar said: “I almost had him killed. Nurse him, for the Commander of the Faithful will soon assign a stipend for him.” Then after that he assigned a stipend for the newborn when he was born.
